Editors’ Letter: Taking a Breather

Hi folks,

Happy 2019! With the new year now underway, we wanted to give you an update about CommonCreativ.

We (Muriel and Caroline) took the reins at CommonCreativ Atlanta in December of 2011, more than 7 years ago. Time flies! Over the years, we’ve worked hard to amass a wonderful group of local writers to help us highlight hundreds of the city’s emerging visual artists, from photographers and painters to sculptors and jewelry makers. We’ve published nearly every Wednesday during that time.

All the while, we have never made a dime off of the website. But that’s fine, of course, because we didn’t take over CCATL to make money. It was a passion project that fulfilled our need for a creative outlet. It was something that we felt had a real impact on the city and its creative scene in particular.

We’ve loved running CCATL, but it’s time we took a break. We don’t want managing the site to start feeling like a burden or a chore. We want to make sure we’re offering a valuable platform for Atlanta’s creative scene. So we’re taking a hiatus for an indefinite amount of time. Meanwhile, the site will not publish new content, but all past pieces will remain untouched and live.

We’re going to take a beat, regroup, and see what we want CCATL to look like moving forward. Maybe that means a zine, or another event, or something completely different. We’ve never really taken a break to reassess what CCATL could be, and it’s time.

Thank you to our readers and our wonderful staff for your understanding and for supporting us for all these years. We couldn’t have done it without you. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at info@commoncreativatlanta.com. We’ll see you soon.

Forever we love Atlanta,

Caroline & Muriel
